LULU HOLDS WALK 4 WELLNESS: MORE THAN 7,000 JOINED AT THE ANNUAL WALK FOR DIABETES AWARENESS #MakeADifference

28th December 2019, Dubai, UAE—Lulu, the region’s top retailer, hosted its seventh walkathon entitled “Walk 4 Wellness” at Zabeel Park, Dubai. Aiming to spread awareness on diabetes prevention and other ailments, the fun-filled event welcomed huge participation from a crowd of more than 7,000 people of different ages and nationalities. The walkathon was flagged off by actors Ahmed Saif and Shane Nigam, in the presence of Salim M.A., Director of Lulu Group, together with James K Varghese, Director of Lulu Dubai and Northern Emirates, and V. Nandakumar, Chief Communications Officer of Lulu Group.

Speaking on the occasion, Salim M.A., Director of Lulu Group, said: “We are glad to have seen massive support from various communities. This year’s edition has reached the highest number of participants with kids and adults alike, which is more than 7,000. Through this walkathon, we have set an encouragement to the public that health is indeed everyone’s wealth to be taken care of every single day. We will continue to advocate for health and wellness platforms like this.”

Over 7,000 participants enjoyed under the sunny rays and the 19-degree winter weather during the three-kilometre walkathon. With the iconic Dubai Frame as the backdrop from the park, the annual Walk 4 Wellness featured various entertainments and on-stage highlights, such as celebrity performances, fitness dance demonstration, cultural dances, martial arts show, and African drummers’ performance. Moreover, in association with Dubai Municipality Food Control and Nutrition Department, helpful sessions on various food safety procedures were conducted with the theme of “Together for Food Safety”.
