Sustainability Drive: Lulu Group Fuels Delivery Vehicles with Biodiesel Recycled from Used Cooking Oil

Abu Dhabi : On the World Environment Day, Lulu Group highlights a key sustainability milestone, its delivery vehicles are now running on biodiesel produced from used cooking oil collected across its network of stores throughout the UAE.
In partnership with UAE-based clean energy company Neutral Fuels, Lulu transforms waste cooking oil, a byproduct of daily store operations, into a renewable, low-emission biodiesel that powers a growing portion of its delivery fleet. This innovative initiative not only helps reduce the carbon footprint but also supports a circular economy model by turning waste into a valuable resource.
By integrating biodiesel into the company’s logistics, the retail chain cutting emissions and demonstrating how practical, everyday actions contribute to a sustainable future.
The use of biodiesel significantly lowers greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional diesel, making LuLu’s delivery operations more eco-friendly without compromising efficiency or reliability.
Lulu’s commitment to environmental stewardship extends beyond biodiesel. The company has successfully reduced plastic bag consumption by over 90%, replacing them with multiple varieties of eco-friendly reusable bags. Additionally, reverse vending machines installed in stores encourage customers to recycle bottles and cans conveniently.Furthering its green logistics efforts, advanced green chiller vehicles are used to transport fresh produce and meat, which reduce carbon emissions.
