Lulu Group's Y International UK selected for Top Award

The Lulu Group’s Birmingham-based Y International UK has scooped the prestigious Award for Excellence in International Business for 2021 awarded by the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce.

Organisers said Y International “has helped the UK economy to thrive by putting their business and the Birmingham brand on the global stage.” The award was presented to Y International General Manager Mr. Fahim Mohammed by Mr Steve Allen, the President of Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce in the presence of Ms Henrietta Brealey, the CEO of the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce.

Established in 2015, Y International UK is part of the supply-chain arm of the retail giant Lulu and is the hub for sourcing food and non-food supplies for the network of 213 hypermarkets and global retail chain operations of the Group in the UK and nearby countries.

The company posted an impressive 30%-plus growth in 2021 in international business.

Chairman Mr. Yusuffali M.A. who, in 2018 received the Queen’s Award from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth for his business leadership in promoting British exports and employment of British citizens in UK, said that Y International UK will continue to promote quality British exports in the GCC and will be expanding the company’s operations in the coming year.

Also present as team members from Y International on the occasion, were Mr Muean Ali – Warehouse Manager, Mr Mohamed Sanij Babu – Middle East Procurement Liaison Manager and Mr Nadeem Hashmi – Procurement Manager.
