Petromin and Lulu Sign MoU to Launch 10 SWFT Lulu Stores Across Saudi Arabia
Jeddah: Petromin, a leading Saudi-origin energy and mobility company under Al-Dabbagh Group, and Lulu Hypermarket, one of the region's leading retail chains, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop 10 SWFT convenience stores by Lulu at Petromin's gas station locations across the Kingdom. Under the agreement, six stores will open in Jeddah and four in Riyadh, marking a significant step in the expansion of Lulu's convenience retail footprint through strategic collaboration with one of Saudi Arabia's most established mobility and energy providers.
The signing ceremony was held in Jeddah, where Mr. Mohammed Haris, Director of Lulu Hypermarkets KSA, and Mr. Amit Wankhede, CEO of Petromin Energy, signed the MoU in the presence of H.E. Mr. Amr Al-Dabbagh, Chairman of Al-Dabbagh Group and former Governor of the Saudi General Investment Authority (2004–2012). Speaking on the occasion, representatives from both organizations underscored the shared vision behind the partnership — bringing trusted, convenient retail experiences closer to motorists and communities across the Kingdom while supporting Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals around retail innovation, mobility, and everyday convenience.
Petromin currently operates more than 80 gas stations across Saudi Arabia, positioning it as an ideal partner for this rollout. Beyond the initial 10 locations, Petromin has expressed strong interest in exploring further collaboration with Lulu Hypermarket for additional gas station sites in the future, signaling the potential for continued expansion of the SWFT by Lulu concept as both companies look to deepen their footprint in the Kingdom's retail and mobility landscape.
SWFT by LuLu was designed to offer a fast, seamless, and premium grab-and-go shopping experience for modern consumers. True to its name, SWFT focuses on speed and convenience, strategically locating its stores in high-traffic hubs such as metro stations, airports, and petrol stations.
Situated in the heart of Jeddah, Petromin was first established as Petrolube in 1968 through a Royal Decree, as a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Exxon Mobil. Following its acquisition by Al-Dabbagh Group, a respected family conglomerate in the region, Petromin evolved into one of the leading mobility solutions providers in the region. Today, Petromin's diverse team unites its passion for technology, innovation, and quality around a single goal — mobility for all. A key milestone in the company's growth has been its expansion beyond Saudi Arabia into the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Pakistan, reinforcing its position as a Saudi-origin energy and mobility company with a growing regional presence.
